Verrukkelijke 15 – 1987
De Verrukkelijke 15
The first series of the Verrukkelijke 15 was broadcast by VARA between October 1983 and October 1989 on Hilversum 3 (later Radio 3). The editors compiled a list of Delicious Tips, and listeners could send in a postcard (later by telephone) with their personal top 3 from the list and the tips to compile the new list.
Tuesday afternoon 4:00–6:00 p.m.
The broadcasts were on Tuesday afternoons from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. In addition to the Delicious Tips, there was also a list of Ego Tips for a while, with personal tips from a number of VARA DJs, supplemented by a different guest each week. The Ego Tips were broadcast in the second hour of Hollands Handwerk, presented by Peter Holland, which was broadcast prior to the Delicious 15.
Presenters
The Verrukkelijke 15 was initially presented by Jeroen Soer, who devised the original format and presented it from the first broadcast on October 4, 1983, until June 3, 1986. Rob Stenders then took over until October 27, 1987. Pieter Jan Hagens presented the show until July 12, 1988, after which Luc van Rooy was the last DJ to present the Verrukkelijke 15.
Light alternative
The music selection was generally “left of center,” slightly more alternative than what was in the charts. Favorites included U2, The Cure, Simple Minds, and Prince. There were also quite a few lesser-known bands from the Netherlands. Not as obscure as the VPRO at the time, but also not as middle-of-the-road as the charts. This gave the Verrukkelijke 15 a unique position on the radio.
